Another point I want to add is that the DEC lawsuit (and the way
DEC handled it) tarnished one of Intel's most important
resources, its reputation and its brand name. Basically,
DEC said that Intel "stole" its ideas, and Palmer even took the
words out of the Aug. WSJ article and used it out of context concluding that Intel has not done any original R&D. And, then
there was the full-page ad the next day basically stating that
Intel stole DEC's ideas. And, all this, behind Intel's back.

I hope Intel points this out to DEC in negotiations. Intel's
name and reputation has been tarnished, and we are talking about
serious monetary losses possibly as a result. I'm glad Intel
is playing hardball. DEC. imo, has not handled this situation in
very professional manner.
