Neocon, come on my good debative friend!
Add it up.
Bush has won, via powers in force only, the recounts so far but this is expressly due to the partisan behavior of the Republican-dominated state election board and secretary of state's office. There's really no other way to view this point.
But we also know Buchanon got loads of Gore votes and has admitted so, and thousands more votes that would have been for Gore were spoiled due to double-punching from the illegal butterfly ballot. We know there are over 10,000 votes which have never been counted for the first time. And we know that a GOPwinger functionary personally alterated 4,100 or so ballots in Seminole County, without those voters' permission.
And we know presently only about five hundred votes separate the two candidates. We know deep devisions will exist and continue to exist if the current frictionated court battles continue. And, furthermore, we know the Florida legislature potentially has some power in this.
So why not do what everyone in the nation would consider fair, assign 12 electoral college votes to each of the major candidates and one to Ralph Nader?
Hey, I know why you're personally opposed. Gore would, if the Florida legislature fairly assigned 12 votes to Gore and Bush and one to Nader, win not only the national popular vote but also the electoral college vote.
I dare say, your use of the phrase "whimsical alteration" is a bit partisan. Are you telling me you'd prefer a distortive alteration by the Florida legislature? Think about it! |
