Thanks for the explanation. I was thinking AMAT looked good in the low 40's based on the percentage that it is off from the high, relative to past declines, and based on valuation measures. I appreciate the TA analysis. If it AMAT gets anywhere near the high 20's I plan to "sell the farm".

FWIW, a tech fund manager that has been hot this year may be loading up on AMAT now. The fund is Pimpco Global Innovation, the manager is Dennis McKechnie, he is often on CNBC Market Week. He said he is buying some semi stocks recently, and back in August he said he would not buy AMAT because of the semiconductor cycle, so I assume he has added recently. Per this link below (follow links for fund information and then performance) the fund is up 51% for the year, outstanding for a year like this in my opinion:
