I am afraid we must agree to disagree on the nature of the tactics used by the campaigns.

I already posted an article from Friday's Washington Post that says that dimpled chads are generally disallowed. In Texas, both parties have to agree to the rules of recount before they can be used. And, of course, you know that the hand counts are not mandated, but are one of several options if a recount is demanded. Further, you know that recounts are generally demanded with cause, that is, allegations of fraud or machine malfunction, not ordinary error. Since ordinary error should be randomly distributed, and since hand counts entail their own risks of error or abuse, it is no just cause for recount. Thus, Bush has an excellent case that the hand counts should not have transpired, and that if they were permissible, dimpled chads should not have been used under "evolving" standards.

I leave other issues to be litigated.
