I am not that worried, first off they corrected information that overseas voters would not likely have with them or easy access to, such as voter ID numbers. These were requests for ballots, NOT ballots themselves.
Second, the dems know full well you can't seperate these out from all of the absentee ballots, and I don't see the courts invalidating ALL absentee ballots for the county.
Third, not everyone who receives an absentee ballot actually mails one in, I was guilty of this myself in the past. Thus people may have requested one, had their request corrected, received the ballot, but never actually returned it. If these are thrown out, look for the Republican legislature in Florida to get REALLY pissed and hand the electors to Bush.
You see, the voter did nothing illegal, if anything illegal was done at all - somebody else altered the request form. Since nobody can point to any instances where the absentee ballots themselves were altered, the voter's will is clear, they are eligible to vote, and I believe their votes will stand since you can not positively point to whose absentee ballot corresponds to which request, and to throw them all out would be to disenfranchise more than 15,000 voters. |
