E911 and Cell-Loc. This company is already FCC E911 compliant. I don't have a position in this company but it would seem that they have an easy solution. The following are some snippets from their website cell-loc.com
Cellocate Technology Overview
Cellocate is rolled out in a major centre to form the TimesThree network. The network is designed to be stand alone. In addition, because the network is technology agnostic, it can locate any wireless device that is in the area. Cell-Loc's flagship product, Cellocate-AMPS, was tested for over five years in north east Calgary. In addition, Cellocate is designed for seamless and cost efficient upgrades from analog (AMPS) to digital (CDMA, TDMA, GSM, iDEN) through the use of modular cards. Cellocate is conveniently located inside a base station. Of significance is that no changes in the existing antennae are required. The system records the Time Of Arrival (TOA) for signals it receives and sends the TOA data to the central switch.
Because the Cellocate System is a network-based TDOA wireless location solution, no changes are required to handsets. Therefore, the 100 million handsets in used today are locatable using the Cellocate System.
How Cellocate Works
Measurements are made on channel transmissions from the cellular phone or other wireless device. At the Host Server, Cellocate's software performs the TDOA analysis and interpolation followed by hyperbolic multilateration, blunder detection, and weighted Least Squares, in order to take advantage of redundant observations in determining the location of the cell phone.
Cell-Loc refers to its technology as patented SuperResolution™ TDOA which provides an order of magnitude improvement over conventional TDOA methods because the algorithms make it possible to achieve a high level of accuracy. Cell-Loc also has patents on algorithms for resolving multipath.
The Cellocate System uses the voice channel to position which offers significant advantages over locating on the control channel.
The Cellocate System has had accuracies as good as 15 metres. |
