The position that all votes should be counted is pure posturing. Across the country tens of thousands of ballots are not counted, for varying reasons, as determined by each state. We have a snapshot of the election process in Florida, now extrapolate that across the other 50 states. Are you 100 percent sure your vote counted? The statistical truth is, we will never know for certain who obtained the most votes. The margin of error in either machine or hand counts is more than the margin of victory. We can of course go across the country looking for each and every disqualified ballot, but that will take us into the next election. We have to live with the results we have now. Perfect no, but it is all we have.
