Vitech America Launches 1400 MHz Intel Pentium 4 Processor With New Quest 7140 PC

Story Filed: Monday, November 27, 2000 1:08 PM EST

MIAMI, Nov 27, 2000 (BUSINESS WIRE) -- Vitech America, Inc. (Nasdaq: VTCH) announced today that its Brazilian subsidiary, Microtec Sistemas S.A. launched the new Intel Pentium 4 family of processors, with a prototype of its Quest 7140 computer, operating at 1400 MHz. This state-of-the-art PC, which is scheduled to debut in Brazil in the first quarter of 2001, explores the full potential of the new RAMBus memory technology and built-in arithmetic processor of the Pentium 4.

"The arithmetic processes of the Pentium 4 allow the peak performance of the PC to be reached in half the time," states Paulo Alouche, Marketing Director of Microtec. "The greater processing and transmission speed, made possible by the RAMBus memory, allows virtual reality work to be performed with greater speed and detail," adds Alouche.

The Quest 7140 will be equipped with 128 Mb RAMBus memory, 20GB hard drive, 32 Mb AGP standard video, DVD, and will work at a speed of 1.4 GHz, the greatest ever allowed on a PC. All the new resources included in the Quest 7140, including its new video streaming technology, make it the perfect PC to use for Internet work, virtual reality construction (used for product and systems projects), and for intense work with graphics processing in multitask environments. The 3-D and multimedia equipment is able to perform complex voice command operations.

"This cutting-edge technology makes the Quest 7140 a product that can compete with the best and most up-to-date products worldwide," states Vicente Soares, CEO of Vitech's Brazil operations.
