Hi CB,
I believe that jttmab has stated anything I might say more eloquently than I can, as to main issues, so I won't repeat that, but will request open minded individuals to make note of its fairness and eloquence.
The fact that you want to make something of this speaks volumes about you and your candidate and your party. and most other Lefties. Fair to you is if your guy wins, nothing less. As I have previously stated on this thread, I am registered here in Oregon as an "independent" voter. On Nov. 7, I voted for our very popular, effective and fair-minded Republican candidate for Congress, the incumbent Greg Walden. I am not, as you characterize me, a member of any organized party. My last affiliation was the Green Party of California. So, you simply have the facts wrong. Furthermore, you will recall my prior post to you last Friday, where I cited the opinion of Mr. Cohen of the Washington Post. That at this juncture, Gov. Bush has the best chance to heal this nation's political wounds and therefore would be the better of the two candidates to become the President. I haven't changed my mind. I still feel that way. If this is "overtly partisan", then I see you having the ability to claim I'm the son of the Queen of England.
You clearly miss my point about fairness. I am a hopeless naif in these matters. I mean exactly what I put in print, so to speak, (mashed metaphor alert, here I go, making 'lectronic spun spud sputterings <gg>) that it is disingenuous for either side to want to re-vote only the votes that are good for it, and to contest those of the opponent. But this is trench warfare. This isn't the odd fellows and/or ladies Sunday Sodality simmering here. (Though it certainly appears so to the foreign press. <g>)
Get your facts straight first, then attack as you see fit. Else, you'll come across as a snorting syncophant of scurrilous insincerity. While I reserve my rights to be considered a latter day nattering nabob of negativity. Particularly when it comes to changing your mind. <vbg>
Not every person who supports Gore on this thread is like that, but you are. I'm not supporting Gore, as you claim, I am ambivalent as to which candidate takes the tarnished prize. I am 100% vociferous in the my respect for and demand for this thing to be settled by the rule of law and due process. That's what I'm concerned about here. And I do say, in this regard, that my observation is the the table tilts toward the Democratic side in making this their policy. The Republicans, OTOH, seem hell-bent on a rush to judgement and an effort to stifle due process and normal procedures. If that make me a partisan in your eyes, then I'd say you have a very jaundiced view of what a republic and the rule of law is all about.
Best Regards, Ray :) |
