So, over the past week or so, I've had buy stops in place, which have not yet been filled, and every couple days, I lower my buy stop.

Just wondering: are these buy stops above or below the market price?

The problem with buy stops (or limit buy orders) below market price is you are doomed to catch it exactly when it breaks out to the downside. Sure, you'll be getting a great deal, but maybe it's the kind of great deal you shouldn't wish for. :-)
