Elmer,

I noticed you had no comment on the results Tom saw when using Intel's compiler, even on Athlon. It blows your excuses out of the water about the compiler being designed just to make Intel processors look good on SPEC.

There are lots of things I dfon't comment on. The fact that Intel has spent a lot of time optimizing their compiler for SPEC and other applications does not mean that the P4 microarchitecture is any better than it was previously.
