You make an excellent point.

I agree that lawyers are better than lethal weapons.

But...
1) Does the credit go to the lawyers, or to the system we all inherited?

2) If dealing with lawyers is better than being killed, is that damning attorneys with faint praise?

3) Japan has about 1/10th the number of lawyers per capita as the U.S. (Forgive me, I am relying on memory here) Does that mean they have 1/10th as much justice?
