Uncle Frank:

"All a very, very risky way to sustainable long-term investing profits, imo."

Would you care to propose an alternative?

Why does it have to be an alternative? Why not an addition to G&K? I pick, for a start and for example, the stocks mentioned on the Buffettology thread that are bought by Warren Buffett and that investors can purchase at the same or lower prices than Mr. Buffett paid. To my knowledge EVERY ONE of those stocks in the past has worked out profitably for those who've held on. NOBODY has lost money who's followed Mr. Buffett into his picks and has held. We would be talking at this point about only a couple of stocks that've not yet shown Mr. Buffett's good gains - GCI, a newspaper stock is one, for example.

"If you follow this thread for a while, you'll see that we read widely, and recommend a broad range of books on investing to newcomers on a regular basis." And what do those books recommend about diversification vs. concentration? And how do you resolve that with the word "now" as in your statement a few posts back: "As I've noted several times, I now view a moderate degree of diversification as an essential tool in portfolio management." It seems to me that it is only because the entire concentrated portfolio of tech stocks of so many people here has dropped these past few months, are you now saying to be somewhat diversified.
