Convertible bond holders often short the stock as a hedge on their investment, particularly when the stock is selling at a premium to their holdings. They're playing the divergence, similar to arbitrageurs in an upcoming merger situation. I am not familiar with the terms on the RDRT convertibles, but I am willing to bet that the premium has disappeared.

Take a look at DRS. Shorts are going to dissappear when the warrants expire in April. Nice premium for a few months wait.
