Joshua Corbin. You read my Buffett post too fast. There are qualifiers in there:

"the stocks mentioned on the Buffettology thread that are bought by Warren Buffett and that investors can purchase at the same or lower prices than Mr. Buffett paid. To my knowledge EVERY ONE of those stocks in the past has worked out profitably."

I tried to post an additional area where investors might look for stock to profit from. I consider myself a basic value investor-- I've got a lot of picks there that might work out, but because I can be easily attacked with those choices - (some of them work out, some don't, value investing is last decade, issues of when to sell, what is value, etc. etc.) I wanted to give my absolute best shot at trying to convince some people here that there are other good venues they could look at. That area has been stocks bought by Warren Buffett that get reported on in the media, that have not moved up immediately in price after they are mentioned, and that can be found and discussed on the Buffettology thread. (Often some question as to whether Mr. Buffett or a surrogate is buying and that might be significant.) Past examples (this year) would be Dun and Bradstreet (28 to 36), GATX (28 to 47), Great Lakes Chemical (28-33), EIX (19-22), Nike (moved up too fast), Liz Claiborne (moved up past Mr. Buffett's buy price too fast also) and Gannett, currently under Mr. Buffett's price of approx. $59.80, therefore a potential buy now, imo.

While many stocks are down, and we could say anyone who bought at the top is in a losing position, Berkshire (B) was discussed quite a bit as a buy by Buffettology thread "knowledgeable followers" (my quotes), when the stock was lower. Anyone who bought then (not me) is in profit territory. As I look at the chart, it seems to me BRKb could be a nice offset in a portfolio otherwise filled with tech stocks that have come down this year.

I am not a Buffett fanatic. I am not recommending any of these stocks for anybody. I am not saying Buffett beats or does not beat G&K stocks or G&K portfolios. I am offering my best shot (and I am wrong a lot) for people here who have concentrated portfolios who might be interested in ideas to broaden their portfolios. I am not trying to convince anyone to buy any stock. (That's the second hardest thing to do -g-. The first being to convince someone to get out of a position -g-).

Probably any further discussion should take place on the Buffettology thread. People here got enough trouble wading through posts just trying to follow their G&K stocks.
