LG to Induce US$2 Billion Worth of Foreign Capital

November 28, 2000 (SEOUL) -- LG Electronics Inc. said it will publicly announce the
inducement of US$2 billion worth of foreign capital during the week.

The company said it is on verge of closing a deal to branch off its braun tube business
into an independent firm and jointly manage it with Philips for US$1.6 billon.

The company added that it also will sell its stake in LG Capital and secure another
US$300-400 million.

This will allow the company to bring down its debt ratio to less than 200 percent by the
end of the year.

The LG Group has been pushing with aggressive restructuring plans in a move deemed
by industry watchers as preparing for its effort to win operation rights for the
next-generation IMT-2000 telecommunications service.
