Does anyone else but me see the "irony" of all the recent(?) political postings on the Porch. Most complain about how this election process has been dragging along yet the Porch has become the "bullypulpit" for expressing each and every thought that pops into someone's head. I'll be glad when all the dusts finally settles and things get back to "normal". Although I'm a democrat that voted for Bush, if I wanted to hear all this stuff vitually non-stop, I would tune into Rush Limbaugh.
Amen, brother!
I've lost interest in this place.
In my opinion it has lost it's soul.
I've witnessed people getting booted from the porch for saying less offensive things than what goes on here on a daily basis since the election was approaching.
What used to be a fun place has become a hollow shell of what it used to be. I see a lot of sour people spewing off about Gore and Bush, dimples, chads, Palm Beach, Tipper, Harris, Christopher, Baker, etc. etc. etc. It's all just a lot of hot air.
It then becomes a game of name calling and flaming those who have a difference in opinion.
I remember a while back when political discussion was frowned upon around here. If I'm correct, that was when the Republicans patiently waited for the Democrats to let up on their liberal views. When it got too much, Dealie found it appropriate to put an end to it. Then she was unfortunately flamed for doing so. Sadly, this opened the flood gates for the Republicans around here. It has been going on for nearly a month now!
Give it a fuckin' break already!
The more I read, the more it sickens me. And it's not because of anyone's personal opinions.
The thing that most of you don't realize it that both sides are vehemently fighting for two weak individuals. They were both so incredibly weak that the country could not even find the conviction and energy to poke through their ballot to vote for them. As a country we were split right down the friggin' middle.
Both sides have strong cases for their claim for victory. Gore has every right to fight to get every vote hand counted. Bush has every right to dispute the acceptance of dimpled chads. Both are playing this political game in the best way that they can. There is so much money and power backing both candidates. It would not be fair for Gore to simply drop it. He has a right to fight for a full count. Lawyers will continue to twist this in every direction and the media will continue to do the same.
Instead of just watching and commenting, this porch has become a Republican Club House.
If that is the way you want it, then fine. If you find it fulfilling, great. That means I found the wrong place to reside in cyberspace.
I'll have to wait it out until the election becomes officially over.
Just remember, George W. Bush is not as smart, intelligent, clever, as he is being pumped up to be. Much like the balloons at the Thanksgiving Day Parade, he has been over inflated with a lot of gas and hot air. With a small number of votes to the other direction, Bush could have easily been walking in the same shoes that Gore is wearing now.
How would this message board have reacted if Bush was pulling for a recount?
I guess I'm just venting my frustration from being tortured for the past few weeks watching the people I liked, turn into political monsters whom I care less to associate with.

***Edit*** Screw it. After rereading this, I realize I'm paying too much attention to cyberspace, instead of the real world. I was away for the holiday and it felt good. Perhaps I use cyberspace as a break from reality. Now reality has invaded cyberspace. I guess I have to seek refuge out in the real world for a while. Perhaps I should read a good book and I'll be better. Sorry for the rant. It took too long to type for me to simply delete it so I'm going to leave it and then go to the brick and mortar library to find a book... Screw Amazon and cyberspace...
