Gore Should Cut His Losses

l Gore had no business losing this election
to George W. Bush, but lose it he has.

No sane court will allow him to pick through the
electoral confetti of southern Florida yet again.
The vice president blew this contest, and simple
common sense demands that he leave the arena, sit down with his
several selves and begin to apportion the blame.

By trying to overturn the election result, Gore runs the risk of
transforming himself from a respectable presidential also-ran into a
historical figure. A hundred years from now, when President
George W. Bush is as obscure as Rutherford B. Hayes, the name
Al Gore could well be a household word, a synonym for
unsportsmanlike conduct.
