Carl:

In one way this is good for the whole democratic process. On the other I'm quite skeptical of the Gore/Liberman challenges. I still think the only fair way was to have a recount in the whole state and this could only have been requested by Gore/Liberman. Gore/Liberman still push the fairness in public but are selective in what they want recounted.

I actually feel the PB board (as well as the other boards) are made up of good, honest hard working people. I don't think PB deliberately missed. In hindsight they should not have taken Thanksgiving off (hard to fault them here, I'd have done the same thing if I felt I'd still make the deadline).

As for the boards the problem with all of them is the inherint bias the individuals may have when they are trying to judge the voters intent in evaluating the ballots. This is why a set standard needs to be imposed. My understanding is the FL SC didn't address this issue (and in effect let different standards continue to exist).

Right now I can't understand how the logistics will work for Gore with a December 12, deadline. I expect the Gore camp to try and rush the process (rightfully so with the logistic issues and time deadlines) but the Bush camp to have it go at a normal pace (as we saw with the FL SC, more time was needed for discovery and reseach).

Two more weeks of a cat fight.

Democrats want it to go on cause they feel Gore won. Republicans want it to end cause Bush won and the independents want it to end.
