Robert Bishop, writing in a Nov. 15 Fax-Alert (No. 181), says that as a
Corriente Resources shareholder he will be watching closely for
developments at both the Chancho and the nearby Mirador projects in
Ecuador. Mr. Bishop recommended the stock seven times between June, 1994
($1.36), and September, 1999 (80 cents); the latter was also his
lowest-price buy tip. The highest was $4.35 in October, 1996. Corriente was
$1.18 at the time of his report. Mr. Bishop notes that on Oct. 27,
Corriente released additional Chancho near-surface drilling results.
Chancho could turn out to be a valuable addition to Mirador, but he says he
does not have the impression that Corriente has made believers out of many
in the market, and this helps to account for its languishing share price.
Mr. Bishop suspects Corriente is also a victim of its own price history
earlier in the year (it peaked at $3.55 in April) on strong volume. "The
result is that it may be hard for Corriente to get out of its own way
between now and year-end, a condition that could be changed by spectacular
drill results," he says.
