Gore won't concede until ALL of the votes he requested, under law, have been handcounted. Nor should he. I don't understand why Bush is reluctant. Why would Bush want a presidency he didn't rightfully win? The very thought of this is frightening. Why wouldn't Bush want full proof that he won fair and square? Especially in light of the fact he lost the national popular vote. Under the circumstances, I'd think Bush would want absolute verification that he clearly and cleanly won the electoral college vote.

Simply stating that machine recounts are sufficient in order for him to proclaim victory because his Florida state co-chair was also secretary of state is not only narrow-minded but dangerous for the country.

For Bush to pronounce himself president and insist on the government paying his transition costs when the election is still in doubt and squarely right now before both the United States and Florida Supreme Courts, shows a massive disregard for law. Maybe Bush's candidacy is a cowboy candidacy for president, one that is premature given that he's obviously demonstrating that he's a presidential candidate who doesn't understand or is willing to accept the laws of the land.
