STOCKHOLM (AFX) - LM Ericsson AB said it has received no formal notification from AT&T Corp regarding the possible use of WCDMA technology for third-generation mobile phone systems.

"We have no formal statement about their (AT&T's) choice, so as a vendor we can't get into the position of commenting on second or third hand reports," said James Borup, information manager for Ericsson 3G, a major provider of WCDMA.

According to Swedish newspaper reports, AT&T may decide to use WCDMA as its 3G system in the U.S.
