I wonder how committed DoCoMo remains to the early W-CDMA launch - wouldn't it be more profitable to wring out everything they can from iMode? I doubt that DoCoMo had any idea how well iMode would do at the point they published the aggressive W-CDMA schedule. They are getting the application & handset support they need to keep competition in check at this stage. How well does the transition to 3G work in practice when they need to build the whole service from the ground up?
