Winkman,

<<VP Al Gore is coming on TV soon. So soon after last night's appearance, it seems to me for only one reason. Concession.>>

It is awfully early in the day to be starting on those martinis, or whatever else is clouding your judgment. Gore to concede? After last night's bedtime story?

First there will be a slight public crumbling of his support, say, Bill Bradley and some other leading Democrats, then the floor will give way. At last when it's absolutely ridiculous, he will give a smarmy "love of country is greater than any passion" speech and bow out. Forever.

Algore's fight for the presidency will remind us of Francisco Franco's fight in the ICU of some Madrid hospital back in 1975. Every night the report would continue, "General Franco still clings to life after . . ."

This went on for weeks.

After he was dead, Saturday Night Live had a great news sketch which began, "Tonight, General Franco is still dead . . ."
