Take a closer look at some of the numbers. The Gore-Bush spread among union households in Michigan alone ... a state you know well ... was 66 percent Gore vs. 33 percent Bush. In past elections, the difference had been around 15 percent in favor of the Dem. How come we saw such overwhelming margins this year? It's my opinion that when traditionally Democratic blocs, such as unions, African-Americans, see the white suburbanites and right-wing mobilizing, it energizes them, too. When African-Americans see white mobs like we saw in Miami-Dade and PBC, they get upset, then they mobilize. Not all segments of American society believe we are that far removed from our historical past when white mobs did far worse things than protest election counts.
