Juno Set to Announce High-Speed Access Pact
Tuesday November 28 6:19 PM ET

NEW YORK (Reuters) - Juno Online Services Inc., the No. 3 U.S. Internet services provider, plans to announce a pact Wednesday to offer high-speed access over a major cable provider's pipeline, a company spokeswoman told Reuters Tuesday.

The pact will not involve Time Warner Inc. (NYSE:TWX - news), a company spokeswoman said.

Juno (NasdaqNM:JWEB - news) and Time Warner signed an ``open access'' pact in July. However, regulators reviewing America Online Inc.'s (NYSE:AOL - news) $95 billion acquisition of the No. 2 U.S. cable provider want Time Warner to strike open access pacts with other ISPs.

In hopes of paving the way for approval of its merger, Time Warner signed a pact with EarthLink Network (NasdaqNM:ELNK - news) Inc., the No. 2 U.S. Internet service provider, last week.

Several cable providers, including AT&T Corp. (NYSE:T - news) and Comcast Cable Communications Inc. (NasdaqNM:CMCSA - news), are looking at open access pacts with Internet service providers.
