The squeaky wheel certainly does get the grease. And if

you look at who is doing the bitching, as you put it, you will nearly always find a liberal. It is the liberals who look to the government (taxpayers) treasuries to buy a new soccer field, which is not a function of govt, while the voting machines go un-updated, which is a govt duty.

The story goes that the Secretary of War at the end of the Civil War dismissed the Union Army at 3 in the afternoon, rather than wait till the next morning, for, as he said, his duty to the public treasury would not allow him to pay the men needlessly for another day. Now, that is the kind of public servant we need more of. We don't need tax cuts, we need govt spending reductions. I told both candidates that I would vote for the first one to run with the slogan "Under a Trillion by 2004".
