**Long OT**
There is a difference between never giving up and not accepting defeat. Ever see a guy fouled on shot that would win a basketball game, but the foul was not called. You yell, you scream, ultimately you lose and come back the next night to play another game. Even if its the 7th game of the playoffs you accept the outcome. Gore would have you checking replays, looking at fingertip skin abrasions, hiring a lawyer to question refs prejudices against whomever and so on.
The election is over. Either way the result is within statistical error possibilities so either declared winner may not really have won. Gore had that a final chance to win. If Miami had re-counted, if palm had completed, if palm had gone the Broward route and counted dimples etc. Gore would have won but he didnt.
Brian Williams on msnbc reported that someone in the ghorehouse indicated that gore was obsessed with his political future and getting ill over the slowness of the courts in the contest phase. His chances are slipping away minute by minute. A better man would concede. I believe Bush would have if only because his father is still alive. Gore Sr., a great man who was a pro civil-rights senator in a southern state, is turning in his grave. His son, a finger in the wind kind of guy is turning a personal defeat into a constitutional crisis that might become a national disaster.
