I agree and am also known for saying that. Globals last caused me trouble, let me think... this morning. The same company that said "a common problem with global pointers..." brought us EFI, the new open source boot environment, which is full of globals. But that is not all. They are formed from 2 upper case characters (BS, RT,...), just like Commodore BASIC! Talk about readable and easy to find.
