Those interpreted javascript applets with all their branches get 'em every time, eh?

I think a lot of people don't understand which parts of the "internet experience" can be aided by a faster processor (as opposed to a faster connection).

To really understand how ssllooww java applets can run in a browser, it helps to have worked with some of Netscape's early server admin tools. Painfully slow isn't the word! I remember 20 and 40 second page updates on a Pentium II (this is all local, pages being called up from disk on the console - and it wasn't the fault of the chip, either).
