GOP protesters at Gephardt's local office carry signs taunting Gore and Democrats
By Eric Stern
Of the Post-Dispatch

More than 200 protesters
picketed Tuesday outside the
district office of Rep. Richard
A. Gephardt, D-south St.
Louis County, demanding
that the congressman press
Vice President Al Gore to give
up the presidential race.

"The Democrats seem to
think they own protesting,"
said Caryln Fox, 57, of
Ladue. "We're not just sitting
back yelling at the TV."

Fox held a sign that read: "Al Gore you are president of Fantasy Island"
and encouraged him to get a job at McDonald's.

That drew a chuckle from fellow protester Ginny McCook, 53, of Town
and Country, who owns five of the fast-food restaurants.

"Our people are much more qualified," she said.
