Com21 Introduces DOXport(TM) 8080
Multi-Dwelling Unit Product Debuts at Western Cable Show
LOS ANGELES, Nov. 29 /PRNewswire/ -- Com21, Inc. (Nasdaq: CMTO - news), a leading global provider of system solutions for the broadband access market, announced today the DOXport(TM) 8080, a device for deploying broadband services in residential multi-dwelling units.
``The DOXport 8080 is an optimal way for residents of high-density areas to receive high speed Internet access,'' says Craig Soderquist, president of Com21. ``This product allows landlords or building managers to offer broadband access without the expense of rewiring the building.''
The DOXport 8080 consists of a cable modem, multiplexing switch, and HPNA (Home Phone Network Alliance) interface. This powerful combination provides high-speed Internet access to individual apartments, hotel rooms, or commercial units over existing telephone lines without interrupting voice services. It eliminates the high costs of re-cabling a building while still providing for the delivery of high-speed, scalable, robust communications. Using the HPNA interface, the DOXport 8080 transmits data over existing telephone lines to a HPNA device in the dwelling unit. The DOXport 8080 can support up to eight units and will be available in the first quarter of 2001.
The DOXport 8080 can be seen at Com21's booth at the Western Cable Show, booth #2159 in the South Hall of the Los Angeles Convention Center, today through December 1, 2000. |
