MORE MTIC Product NEWS:MTI: MTI launches new departmental storage solution designed for large corporate and medium enterprises
NOV 29, 2000, M2 Communications - MTI, the technical leader in the distributed storage market, announced today the introduction of a new range of departmental storage solutions, the MTI Vivant S200. This product will provide a new level of industry leading high-availability, end-to-end enterprise storage solution. Extending the capabilities of the existing MTI Vivant family of storage solutions into new market segments.

The Vivant S200 provides the simplicity of a network-attached storage (NAS) device and the higher performance and capacity of a SAN. The Fibre Channel based Vivant provides up to 1.7TB of storage across 24 drives in a 20inch box or 10U high rack mountable configuration, designed for use in UNIX , Windows NT/2000 and LINUX environments.

"This device is targeted at businesses that require large amounts of fast storage in locations far from their main Corporate data centres, for example regional offices." Comments Keith Clark, Senior Vice President, MTI Europe.

"Effectively, we have put SAN in a box, with the Vivant S200 you can have more than a terabyte of storage in a neat package that can fit in a closet and it is as simple to deploy as a network attached storage (NAS) device."

The big problem currently experienced by almost every organisation is the amount of information and data moving around the network and continuous access to this information is a critical success factor in today's New Economy. Recent reports from research analysts, IDC predict that revenue from storage software will grow from $5 billion (1999) to $10.4 billion by (2004). Companies that are evolving and changing will need flexible solutions, which allow ultimate choice. The Vivant S200 can support mixed operating platforms and be deployed in a wide range of applications enabling customer's choice when selecting the optimum storage solution.

The flexibility and scalability of the MTI Vivant S200 enables storage to be configured and managed to the needs and requirements of the organisation's environment. Databases, Internet servers, Email, Messaging, Video and Media streaming are all well suited to the Vivant S200 series. MTI DataShield* volume mapping provides data security and integrity in shared SAN environments by creating logical pools of storage for different host systems.
