I said from the beginning that a manual recount in the entire state of FL was the way to go. I have always believed that.

It's a nice idea, but the devil is in the details. Who determines the standards used? Will hanging chads count? Gaping chads? Dimpled chads?

Which standard used could very well determine the winner. That means the chooser of the standard will pick our next president. Who will that be? A judge? Katherine Harris? The Supreme Court? The Florida Legislature?

Maybe we should hold a nationwide vote on which standard should be used in the Florida recount? I'm only half kidding because that is the only real democratic resolution to the recount issue.
