Eric L.,

It is unfortunate that you chose only those sentences from the entire article (BTW, can anybody post a link to the actual article instead of a posting of it? It helps me to verify sources.). It is a valid point that Nokia will not be releasing GPRS phones until the second half of 2001. The proper context comes later though when the article states:

"While some producers, such as Motorola, already have introduced GPRS phones, sales aren't
taking off because phone companies have not yet completed the networks to carry the signals."

Personally, I am not that concerned about a lack of cell phones for a network that is not completed. Meanwhile Nokia remains in its market sweet spot with stated preparation for GPRS once it arrives. The delaying of 3G does not hurt Nokia, IMHO. It may hurt qcom but that is an issue for another thread.

Now that I've said something on-topic I would like to say something off-topic regarding Puck's thread. He has done a great thing for Nokia investors. This thread had become nothing more than a mass of hecklers for qcom and you all know that to be true. Free speech has nothing to do with it. You are still free to heckle for qcom on this and the 4-5 other qcom threads. I think the separation has benefitted both threads since this one has toned down a bit.

JMHO,
Terrapin
