I would like to have an intelligent debate with you or anybody on this thread about the issues, but nobody knows how to debate. There are a few things that trouble me about the dem's position, and it would be helpful to me and to all interested if they could be debated. Problem is nobody answers the questions or positions in my posts. Just respond with some other point.

BTW, I know that the contesting the election is within the law. People keep talking about the republican "mistake" of going to the USSC giving the dems more time. What I believe might bight Gore in the butt is that he used up his contesting period by extending the time before the certification. The repubs will be justified going to the USSC because they will back the repubs lawful position.

One more word on what I believe is the crux of the whole matter. The changing of the deadline for certification, that is. The laws regarding Florida's election rules were written in a way that was fair to all parties. They need to work for everybody. The repubs and demos were faced with the same circumstances when they chose the paths they took. The 72 hours for requesting the recount AND the one week to get it completed were the same for BOTH parties. The difference is that the dems decided to disregard one of the laws (maybe they didn't see it, but I doubt that) and fight it in court if necessary with the best lawyers that money can buy. Nothing illegal about trying this strategy, but it amazes me how easy it is for EVERY elected demo to turn a blind eye to it, and to SLAM the republicans for basically reading the law as ANY logical minded person would have.

How would you have read the law BEFORE the election?
