However, that day will be the end of the doom and the market will be up from there. Let us not forget the driving force behind the market - corporate earnings. And corporate america is far from dead or dieing - its just a little overvalued..

D: While I whole-heartedly agree with your assessment of the situation, I must also submit that your aforementioned "up from there" may not be as quick a thing as your comment seems to imply. After capitulation a market typically trades sideways for an extended period of time thereafter. Why? You summed it best with your total pool of capital is decreasing.. statement. But, I prefer to think of such an event as capital annihilation. And from such an event as this the market herd does not easily recover.

Be that as it may....when it occurs it'll be a great time for those with long term horizons, and cash on hand.
