Network Appliance and Symantec Partner to Incorporate Anti-Virus Functionality Across NetApp Product Line
SUNNYVALE, Calif.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Nov. 29, 2000--Network Appliance, Inc. (NASDAQ:NTAP - news), the leading provider of network-attached data access and content delivery solutions, announced today that it is partnering with Symantec Corp. (NASDAQ:SYMC - news), a world leader in Internet security technology, to provide anti-virus interoperability with NetApp® storage and content delivery solutions.
Symantec is planning to offer CarrierScan Server 2.0(TM), a server-based carrier-grade anti-virus scanning and repair solution, to secure Network Appliance(TM) storage and content delivery products. Under the terms of the agreement, Network Appliance will provide hardware and operating system support for the anti-virus solution, and Symantec will drive integration, management, updates, and support. Symantec's CarrierScan Server 2.0 solution is scheduled to be available with Network Appliance products in the first quarter of calendar year 2001.
