I also think they will continue to issue PR's touting this or that great development.

I didn't predict a bankruptcy. Companies (if you can use that term) like this can be kept alive indefinitely through the use of private placements or loans by the principles among other things. When it becomes unprofitable for the people behind them to continue is when they fade away. Legal problems sometimes cause their demise also.
