Kevin As example people sell shares at .75 cents the selling pressure forces the market makers to bring the stock down to a price lower then the asking price (.75), then these same people buy the shares back at a reduced cost. Their profit is the difference of the sell and ask. When a company is week in sales or other reasons the sharks come in for the kill. What G T S M needs to do is come out with positive news (not hype) to create an interest in buying the stock, then the short sellers will lay off the stock. Hope this helps explain whats going on.
