A brand has to give one a "good taste in their mouht." It is not the customer service to which I was referring. It is the privacy issue that came up. I suspect there are a lot of unhappy equity and bond investors. When this falls a part, may customers may never get ordered items yet their cards will be charged.

I do not believe Amazon in general is a "cherished" name although I do agree the name is known. I am trying to think of some other firms that had been around with a known brand but the brand was never acquired. There are others that changed their name even though it was a well known name but the perception of the name was not good. One of those is Montgomery Wards now called Wards. Esso is another one that was oil in this country.I can't recall what they did to upset the masses but EXxon worked much better later, etc.

I know of a good example. For manufactured a car in the late forty until around the mid 50s. I can't think of the name at the moment. Anyhow, the car had lots of problems and although the name was very well know, the name was never used again.
