Study the history of the black race going back to slavery days and you'll see they're not about to buy into GOP rhetoric for a long time. The distrust of rich white boys from all-white neighborhoods and country clubs is too great. Bill Clinton has soul. So does Bill Bradley. Gore lacked some but got them going toward the end when they realized they'd better speak out or lose. Of course there are exceptions to every generalization but every black comes from poverty, whether it is this generations or two generations ago. They aren't about hand-outs but they are about compassion. Real compassion not just slogans. Bush has done little or nothing in his life to demonstrate real compassion. Just slogans to cover up the same old agenda of "help yourselves". Education is a key but his record fell short of his rhetoric. Texas's "education miracle" was mainly an orchestrated scam as we found out from the second Rand Report. Try as he might Bush is more divisive. It is the party's fault really. The Tom Delays and southern conservatives who control the party. Bush would probably like to be more compassionate but he's not the one running the party. He depended on huge amounts of GOP money to get him this far. That money represents the Reagan and Newt Gingrich doctrine. Tax cuts for the rich and cutting social programs. Most blacks depend on an occasional helping hand from the government. Take away that helping hand and you risk racial tensions and riots in the streets. Don't assume the Hispanics are more "conservative" either. Theyw ent 70% for Gore. If Bush hadn't had a Hispanic sister in law it would have been 80%.
