| Haqi, you have an exaggerated sense of the build up of the country. I am 20 minutes or so from the Beltway, off of Highway 50, which stretches from Santa Monica to Ocean City, and the Annapolis metro area alone is over 100,000. Nevertheless, there is lots of woodland in the immediate area. I have had foxes and racoons root around in my trash cans. When there is a drought, deer come closer to the town (and sometimes are hit by cars). One does not have to drive far to find extremely low density areas. My county is in the top 5 most populous in the state. Most of the state, outside of the Washington- Baltimore metropolitan area, is rural. Western Maryland and portions of Southern Maryland are very heavily forested. Central Maryland is one of the great horse breeding areas in the country (remember "Giant"?). And the Eastern Shore, including Maryland and Delaware, is one of the important vegetable growing regions in the country, and supplies much of the chicken east of the Mississippi......... |
