  Com21 Launches DOXphone(TM)
Telephony Solution to be Featured at Western Cable Show
LOS ANGELES, Nov. 30 /PRNewswire/ -- Com21, Inc. (Nasdaq: CMTO - news), a leading global provider of system solutions for the broadband access market, announced today the introduction of DOXphone(TM), a next-generation solution for telephony and data access offered by cable operators. With the DOXphone system, customers can simultaneously access the Internet and talk on the phone through the same cable line, using their conventional telephone.
``Voice services are the next desired revenue stream for cable operators. We're pleased to provide a solution for MSOs to offer their customers toll-quality voice service,'' comments Com21 president Craig Soderquist.
DOXphone, which consists of a gateway to the PSTN (public switched telephone network), a gate controller, and call agent support, allows cable operators to offer their customers cable-based phone service using the existing PSTN infrastructure. The system allows customers to use their existing phones and supports all features offered by their local exchange. As the VoIP (Voice over Internet Protocol) infrastructure is developed, DOXphone can be upgraded to become a full end-to-end IP telephony network solution.
The DOXphone system will be demonstrated at Com21's booth at the Western Cable Show, booth #2159 in the South Hall of the Los Angeles Convention Center, from November 29 through December 1, 2000. |
