If DEC waits too long to settle this, Intel will have other commitments for their post 9/30/97 production which do not involve DEC. If you figure in the disruption to the DEC cash flow that will result if that happens, I think you will see that they can not deal with this kind of problem and survive.

How many companies can lose that much business overnight and stay in business?

I really believe that the DEC board or the DEC stockholders will act to preserve their company before that happens. I think it would be a breach of their fiduciary duties to do otherwise.
