Hi LarsA,

That has been a fun scenario of mine for awhile! Let's face it, we have all seen at least one episode of the newer Star Trek series. Their communicator is a little badge that they tap on/off. In one episode they described microphones and speakers that were implanted in there necks and ears. The 3G radio receiver/transmitter could be something like this and serve as the gateway to a body-network of Bluetooth devices. Pretty soon the science is going to catch up with the fiction.

In order to evade any royalties the radio receiver/transmitter might have to have a token speaker/microphone to prove it can be used as an independent device. But since qcom claims that the price for their IPR is the same no matter what you use it may not matter.

Of more immediate importance is the fact that GSM/GPRS will likely be around for the next 2-5 years with an outside shot at a decade of dominance as newly integrated features satisfy the markets need for greater flexibility. This can only be good for Nokia.

A wild card is the 1x EV-D(something) "overlay". I confess a lack of knowledge about this or its potential effect on Nokia's business plan.

Best,
Terrapin
