Hi Alexa, Sundays work better for me, as I usually use Saturdays to do catch up work. Nose to grindstone stuff. I used to go to S.G. when I was a kid. What's parking like these days ? What about the fog factor ? Seems to me I remember a lot of foggy windy days there. Ought to warn the outa towners that the Calif coast sometimes demands sweatshirts/pants for comfort, hate to see Rambi chattering in just her thong...Well now let me rethink that.
There's a chance I won't be on this side of the world at that time, don't know yet, but if I am, will definitely try to make it.
And now a bit of San Gregorio trivia...Just south of the main beach area there used to be an unmarked entrance to a tunnel that someone evidently dug, which traveled many yards under a hill, ending up in an ocean facing cliff. Last time I crawled into that tunnel was maybe 35 years ago. I'm sure the good people who police those beaches have eliminated that little attraction by now. Going into the tunnel was a tight crawl, but as it sloped towards the ocean it enlarged to a rather large opening, maybe 8 foot diameter. Come to think of it, teenage boys sure don't have much sense. Hope that tunnel is closed down.
Might also advise people such as Penni, if she does fly in, that getting there is half the fun. From SFO, one would head Northerly to first exit, 380 heading SW. Go to T junction with 280, and take 280 South. From 280 S, a fun drive is to go to 92W and go up to Skyline, turning South on Skyline Blvd, drive 15 or 20 miles on this hilly windy country twolane road down to SkyLonda lots of great views both of bayarea and coast. Head West again on 84 towards La Honda, continuing on to San Gregorio. Approx total driving time from Airport would be 1 hour plus. Lots of 25 mph turns hilly and windy stuff after leaving freeways behind. You're not really lost, its just a lot more "country" than some would expect for SF/SJ environs.
