After a long night inhaling stale smoke and gulping down cheap bourbon at the tables back of the Bushwacker Bar, I'd managed to drive half way back to Capital City in the used Ryder Truck, my profits from a busted-flush that bluffed some Yankee slicker by the name a' Dave Bois, when I happened to glance in the rear view mirror. Someone was tailing me. I counted three cop cars, five Chevys, eight Fords, a Jetta, two sleek stretch limos, and a sky full of whirlybirds. You'd think a private dick like me would a' tumbled to the sneaks earlier, but I'd been lost in thought about all those missing chads. Who could have kidnapped them? Where were they now? Were they still kicking or had the worst happened? How much should I charge my client? All the unanswered questions made my brain swim....
