They play follow the leader. In this case, that would be "Follow the Head Goron" and lie, mis-state the truth, deceive by omission, obfuscate the truth, etc. I think it basically comes down to a case of mass low self esteem. If one always blames some one else, then one can avoid examining one's one faults. What a way to live a life.
