NETRO EXPANDS PRODUCT OFFERING WITH NEW 3.5 GHZ RADIO

Broadband Wireless Access Leader to Provide Lower Frequency AirStarâ„¢ Solution to Meet Growing Customer Demand

San Jose, California, July 31, 2000 - Netro Corporation (NASDAQ:NTRO), a leader in broadband wireless access solutions, today announced the 3.5 GHz version of the company's ATM-based AirStarâ„¢ system. This new radio will be compatible with Netro's current base stations which support both IP and voice traffic. Introduction of the 3.5 GHz version is in response to growing demand by Netro's customers which are increasingly receiving licenses in both the 26 GHz and 3.5 GHz frequency bands.

"Our customers are pleased with Netro's leading-edge technology in the 10, 26, 28 and 38 GHz frequencies," said Gideon Ben-Efraim, chairman and CEO of Netro. "With more 3.5 GHz licenses being awarded to these same customers, the demand for a Netro AirStar solution at this frequency has been growing rapidly. Most importantly, this new radio will be compatible with Netro's current base stations and customer premise equipment, providing a cost effective solution for our customers. As in the past, our customers will be able to offer multiple frequencies, including 3.5 GHz, on just one base station."

The addition of this new product expands the range of small and medium size businesses that a service provider can address while maintaining the carrier class level of performance presently provided by the AirStar system. The 3.5 GHz version offers a greater coverage radius than available from higher frequency products while providing the same service set as Netro's industry-leading 10, 26, 28 and 38 GHz products.

Customers will be able to place orders immediately for the new 3.5 GHz AirStar system. Volume product shipments are expected in early 2001.
